This special project was a crossover of my 10+ years of marketing experience and my various hobbies colliding into a 1 day event curated for female skaters in Chicago to come together and enjoy a session with them at the center.

As a skater of 7 years, I knew the skate culture in Chicago has a strong community across enclaves and rinks throughout the city. With a session available 7 days a week throughout the city, skaters have a surplus of options when deciding when or where to skate for an average of $10 a session. Music is an integral part of bringing in skaters to these spaces for parties, whether they are regulars or curious newbies. Knowing this, I focused my marketing to attracting females skaters, regardless of their proficiency, by offering a unique session that catered to a feminine taste from the aesthetic to music and the overall demographic of the crowd around Valentines Day. This was the inception of the Galentines Skate Party.

To expand the reach of our marketing, we partnered with a local and well-loved all female Chicago skate group as influencers for the event. With an all-women creative pre-production team, all picked from the rinks, we filmed promotional videos and released them as a weekly series increasing engagement and awareness of the event starting Jan 1, 2026 through the week of the event in February. We also ensured the date chosen for the event did not conflict with any other major events, like Valentine’s Day or other skate sessions.

We also collaborated with local female skaters with businesses to feature them in a post to promote them and further our theme of a female focused and 100% women curated event.

The final result - all digital advertising was done on Instagram, boasting 68k views throughout the 2 month campaign timeline, where 72% of all engagement were from non-followers. The campaign reached over 11k accounts with our most successful post boasting over 13k views. The final event had over 120 attendees with 137 induvial tickets sold. In conclusion, in terms of ROI, we not only broke even, but left with a 100% return after the event.
